Discussion Items

  • Pool Update-Colt Downing: Starting tomorrow 5/26 Idaho Stage Construction will be starting the demolition portion of the pool project. We are waiting for the sand filter which is on order and should arrive by June 26th.  Once we get the sand filter installed the pool will be ready to open.  Tentatively the pool will open on the 4th of July.

  • USDA Watershed Grant: There was a workshop prior to the council meeting.  Jared Everson with NRCS discussed the process of this grant.  To get the ball rolling the NRCS needs a commitment from the city.  We were asked to fill out an exploratory application which is the first step in this process. Motion to approve filling out the application was made by Council President Genese Simler and seconded by Council Member James Kelly. Roll Call Vote: Genese Simler aye, James Kelly aye, Kaylee Hunt aye.

  • Bond for Bryan Drive Booster Station: With the urgent need to obtain funds to repair the Bryan Drive Booster Station, the Council unanimously agreed time is not on our side and we need to do a Judicial Conformation Bond. We will begin the process and hope to have it in place within the next 4 months.  Motion to approve proceeding with the Judicial Conformation Bond was made by Council President Genese Simler and seconded by Council Member James Kelly. Roll Call Vote: Genese Simler aye, James Kelly aye, Kaylee Hunt aye.

  • Young Eagle Fly-In: The Aero Club requested the city supply the fuel for the Young Eagle Fly-In.  This is a great opportunity for our youth to experience a once in a lifetime flying experience.  The pilots volunteer their aircrafts and their time, and the city donates the fuel for the event.  Motion to approve up to $1,000 in fuel for the event was made by Council President Genese Simler and seconded by Council Member Kaylee Hunt. Roll Call Vote: Genese Simler aye, James Kelly aye, Kaylee Hunt aye.

  • KFR Up Coming Grants-Bill Arsenault: Chief gave an update on some grants he is working on. He requested a letter of support from the council.  Motion to approve a letter of support was made by Council President Genese Simler and seconded by Council Member James Kelly. Roll Call Vote: Genese Simler aye, James Kelly aye, Kaylee Hunt aye.

  • Adding Persi Choice to our Retirement Plan-Bill Arsenault: It has been brought to our attention about adding an employee funded addition to our Persi Retirement Plan. With a simple application all Persi eligible employees can have an amount taken out of their bi-weekly paycheck to be added to their retirement fund.  Motion to approve adding Persi Choice to our retirement was made by Council Member James Kelly and seconded by Council Member Kaylee Hunt. Roll Call Vote: Genese Simler aye, James Kelly aye, Kaylee Hunt aye.

  • Offering Discounted Life Flight Rates for Employees-Bill Arsenault: Chief is trying to find incentives for our volunteers. One way is to offer a discounted life flight membership to our employees and volunteers. Motion to approve this was made by Council President Genese Simler and seconded by Council Member James Kelly. Roll Call Vote: Genese Simler aye, James Kelly aye, Kaylee Hunt aye.

  • Monthly Maintenance Report-Mike Stanton: Water Plant is running without any issues. Parks are in good shape. The Chamber hired the prison crew to remove Christmas lights and clean up around the park. Streets had to post pone the Mag Chloride due to weather conditions and they are working on cleaning ditches to keep up with water runoff. Wastewater Treatment Plant is doing ok but needs the Allweiler Pump which should be here around July 1.
