Call to order 4PM
Discussion Item: Sheriff Davis – Lewis County Sheriff
- Up Coming Contract 2023-2024
Sheriff Davis expressed concerns about staffing issues they are having @ Lewis County. Currently he is down deputies and is uncertain about the availability of officers and hours he can provide to the City of Kamiah. Of course, he will do everything he can to make sure they meet the contracted hours allotted to Kamiah, however if they can not provide adequate coverage the city is not obligated to pay.
- Potential Changes for 2023-2024
Sheriff Davis, Mayor Heater and the Council went over other ideas for the city in the event that Lewis County is unable to provide services for our community. One idea was to re- instate the Marshalls Office here in Kamiah. Again, we would run into the issues of staffing and funding. We would need a minimum of 4 officers and all the expenses of uniforms, gear, and vehicles.
Another workshop will be scheduled in April to see if we can come up with a compromise and/or a solution.
